Fellowship:

    • September Welcome Brunch (welcoming everyone back for a new school year)
    • Monthly membership lunch and monthly Happy Hour (GM&W only)
    • Bonfire night
    • Excursions to events around Madison

Professional Development:

    •  Practice prelims for people prelimming in spring (contact us if you are planning to prelim and want us to set up a practice talk room/snacks/audience for you!)
    • Lunches with colloquium speakers who are GM&W
    • Grad school application workshop (current grad students reading application materials for grad school applicants)
    • Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP – now virtual this year)

Mentorship:

    • Mentoring program for grad students to mentor undergrads! New this year, kicking off in Fall 2022

Outreach:

    • Wisconsin Science Festival
    • Running a booth at Treinen Farms Maze
    • Volunteer opportunities with the Wonders of Physics

  • Fellowship: New Graduate Student Welcome Brunch, Bonfire at Picnic Point, ‘Hidden Figures’ Movie Night, Cookie Decorating, Bowling, Pi(e) Day Celebrations
  • Professional Development: Phoenix Nuclear Tour (private tour of the facility for GMaWiP members), What to Expect When You’re Expecting to Prelim, Personal Essay Workshops for REU/Graduate School/Fellowship Applications, Hosted WISELI: Eliminating Unconscious Bias Workshop, Hosted APS’s Communication and Negotiation Skills Seminar for Women
  • Mentorship: Undergraduate Mentorship Program, Presentation/Journal Club (undergrads and graduate students get practice presenting on individual research or a journal article), Panels on Applying to Graduate School
  • Outreach: Weekly study sessions,  Illuminate (a program to connect Girl Scouts with STEM mentors), Van Hise Elementary School Science Night, Expanding Your Horizons, Physics Fair
